Nickname: "Crunchy"....New Jersey born in 1962, New York raised. Husband to Lori and cat daddy to Smokey, Mugsy and Freddie Flintstone. Maker of sawdust, curly wood bits and splinters. Lifelong MoPar fan and aficionado of good coffee and fine whiskey. Over 40 years experience in traditional woodworking and finishing. Just livin' the dream.
My passion for working with my hands didn't happen overnight. My father and his talent, skill and patience is the inspiration for my woodworking and the drive to keep doing it. He was a fixer and builder of all things mechanical, and his attention to detail and God given talent have left a huge pair of shoes for me to fill. He will always be my hero.
Many of the tools I still use in my shop are the same ones my father used when he was half my age. He knew how to care for, sharpen, and maintain his instruments that have been in service for several generations. Thankfully, these values were passed on to me. I respect tradition and the value of vintage, well-made tools that were manufactured with American pride.
More importantly, the lessons of self-discipline, planning, patience and the need to forgive yourself when you make a bad cut (I've made plenty of those) have stayed with me throughout my life. Through my dad, I've realized the value of applying these lessons and values to all aspects of life.......not just woodworking. Thank You Dad.
Here you will find a very small sampling of the hundreds of custom grip sets that have come from my shop over the years......I'll be adding more. This serves to showcase SOME of the woods, colors, and design options available to you. The customer is in no way limited by what is seen here. I can provide dye color matching to vehicle paint, grips for right hand drive and custom applications. Mounting options and many other custom features are available.......We need to talk.
All my work is done in a woodshop built on my property. Idle Hands Woodwork doesn't have a storefront for you to visit. I mention this because many of my customers have expressed an interest in stopping in to watch the sawdust fly. I'm sorry, but that's not an option at this time.
If you are curious about having a custom made set of grips, please use this form to let me know what you have in mind. I truly look forward to speaking with you and discussing your project.
